The Jefferson City Council met last night in regular session.
The Council approved the first reading to adopt an ordinance for a Planned Unit Development zoning classification for property in the Water Tower Subdivision following a public hearing. City Attorney Bob Schwarzkopf said at the next meeting, the Council will consider a resolution for approval for a preliminary and final plat of survey to subdivide the lots for the housing development.
The Council then approved to sale its general obligation urban renewal corporate purpose bonds for $2,422,119.34 to United Missouri Bank in Kansas City, Missouri and Home State Bank in Jefferson at a 3.08 percent interest rate for 20 years. The Council also approved its general obligation golf course acquisition bond in the amount of $305,550 to the same financial entities at a 2.25 percent interest rate over 20 years.
The Council appointed Nick Sorensen as the new Building and Zoning Official. He is currently a sergeant with the police department and will start his new job on Monday, June 15th at a salary of over $47,000.
The Council also approved the second pay estimate to Scharnweber for $219,203.91 for work completed on the 2015 Water and Sanitary Improvement projects to Wild Rose Jefferson and a plat of survey for Marcellous Taylor was also approved.
During the reports, City Administrator Mike Palmer said the City is going to publish a yearly informational booklet with Big Green Umbrella. The Council requested to see a quote from them before the publication moves forward.
