jefferson welcomePhone services were temporarily disrupted earlier today in Jefferson.

We previously reported around 11:30am that Jefferson residents, using landlines, could not make calls to a number with a 386 prefix or dial 911.  Those using the same prefix on cellphones, couldn’t connect either.  Right before noon, Jefferson Police Chief Dave Morlan told Raccoon Valley Radio that all communications were back up and running.

During the disruption, Morlan says the person initiating the call wouldn’t get a dial tone or an answer on the other line, but that the receiver could hear them.  The call would then end shortly after that.

Jamie Daubendiek with Jefferson Telecom tells Raccoon Valley Radio they are still investigating the exact cause of the problem, but he believes it to be a technical/network issue.  He says they restarted their systems to get the services back online and he’s confident there won’t be anymore issues going forward with anyone’s service.
