Several Perry city departments are partnering with the Perry Hy-Vee for a fun and informational day later this summer.
The event will take place in the Hy-Vee parking lot on Saturday, August 22nd.
Deputy Public Works Director Josh Wuebker says they’re looking forward to participating in the event this year and offering something for residents of all ages.
“I lined up a machine that two people sit on and it simulates what a five mile per hour crash feels like with a seatbelt on. I’ve done it myself at a class I was at. It’s pretty unbelievable what a five mile per hour crash feels like, but it’s just (to stress the importance) of seatbelts.”
Children in attendance will also have the chance to participate in some hands-on activities.
“We’ll have a lot of our equipment down there and kids can run around and play on it and look at it. But we have a new plow truck that we’re going to bring down there and we’re going to have kids color it, paint it, whatever they want with it. So that will be permanent on there so next winter if you see that plow going down the street they can say ‘Hey, I colored on that or drew my name on it.’”
More details on the event will be released as it gets closer.
We will have more with Wuebker and Public Works Director Jack Butler on today’s Let’s Talk Dallas County during the 9am, noon and 5pm hours on AM 1310 KDLS.
