Originally, June 12 was a night off the Greene County softball team, but the baseball Rams were scheduled to play Roland-Story in Story City. Baseball is on as scheduled for tonight, but the Rams are playing softball, too, just not against anyone on the original schedule.

According to Tom Kennedy, head coach of the Rams, East Marshall (Le Grand) called yesterday and a JV/varsity softball twin bill was scheduled for tonight in Le Grand. JV teams play at 6 p.m. with the varsity to follow. Greene County was unranked last season and EM was number two when the Rams downed the Mustangs 10-3 in the Class 3A State tournament third place game. Both return all-state pitchers along with other players and both squads are ranked in the top five. The Rams are third and Mustangs fifth. New rankings from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union are scheduled to be released later today.

EM is 8-2 with one loss to Class 1A number one ranked AGWSR (Ackley) and the other loss is to Class 4A number 7 Norwalk. Greene County is 12-0.

In baseball, Greene County is 7-5 overall and 5-3 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play. R-S is 10-6 overall and 5-2 in league play.
