ADM baseball experienced its fourth weather-related postponement overall and second in five days on Monday, when heavy rain that began Sunday and lasted through mid-afternoon Monday forced the Tigers to reschedule a conference home game against Ballard to Thursday.
The weather looks clear for Tuesday night, when the Tigers (6-7) will travel to Newton for a non-conference matchup. Head coach Jason Book said the frequency of schedule changes is frustrating, but that he uses is it to teach his players how to respond to things out of their control in a positive manner.
And while some might think scheduling changes affect hitters more because it throws off their timing against live pitching, Book was more focused on how it effects his pitching staff.
“For me what gets thrown off the most is probably the pitching rotation,” Book said. “We have a lot of guys who just don’t have very many innings yet this year maybe being bumped by cancellations or what have you. We’re probably just going to have to start throwing a couple guys per game and get some arm strength built back up.”
