Greene County improved to 9-7 overall and 7-3 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference baseball with a victory by an 8-2 score over CMB (Maxwell) on Friday night in Jefferson at Allensworth Field. Senior Riah Nelsen went all seven innings to improve his pitching record to 4-0, and at the plate he hit a two-run homer, singled twice, and knocked in four runs. Nelsen fanned 12 Raiders and walked five while scattering seven hits, all singles. Although he allowed just one earned run, it was the first first earned run off him this season.

The Rams trailed 1-0 in the first, then took the lead for good with five runs in the third. Three more in the sixth made it 8-1, and CMB scored in the seventh for the final margin. Reid Lamoureux doubled twice and Alex Rasmussen doubled and singled. Daric Whipple had two base hits with Dylan McConnell driving home two runs with a single. Tyler Beger added a base hit. Colton Fitzpatrick did not have a hit, but did collect an RBI.

The Rams had 11 hits, two error and left eight on base. CMB also had two errors and they left eight on as well.

Greene County plays South Hamilton in Jewell on Monday night.
