
The Perry softball team picked up three more wins against Heart of Iowa opponents this past weekend as the Jayettes finished 3-1 at the Roland Story Invitational. Perry went 1-1 Friday defeating Gilbert 9-0 and losing to a ranked AGWSR team 6-0. The Jayettes defeated Gilbert for the second time in less than a week. Emma Olejniczak knocked in 4 runs including a 3-run double to put the game away. Rachel Kinney and Brooke Huntington each added 2 hits for Perry.
Saturday, the Jayettes defeated both Roland Story and Nevada in time capped games due to bad weather. Perry jumped out early on the host school as Kinney continued her hot hitting finishing with 2 RBI and 2 more hits. Johanna Diw went 3-4 at the plate and scored a pair of run. Perry stole a season high 5 bases. Olejniczak did not allow an earned run in 5 innings of work while striking out 8.
Perry shut out Nevada in Saturday’s other game by a score of 5-0. Olejniczak dominated the Cubs tossing a no-hitter with 6 strikeouts. Perry scored a single run in the second inning and added a pair of runs in both the 3rd and 4th innings. Kinney added 2 more RBI’s to go along with 2 stolen bases.
Perry is now 8-13 on the season and will return to the RRC tonight when they host Winterset. Shawn Kenney will have the play by play on KDLS 1310 and 99.7 fm.
