At the recommendation of Emergency Management Coordinator Bob Kempf, the Guthrie County Board of Supervisors have declared a countywide state of emergency, due to flooding caused by storms earlier this week. Kempf says this could open up the door for some residents to possibly receive assistance from the state’s  Individual Assistance Program. “It could give assistance to some of our lower income and elderly people or people on a fixed income. Give them some assistance to make some repairs and clean up from the water that’s in their basement and things like that.”

Kempf says if you’re interested in seeing if you qualify for the program, call your local city hall with contact information and they’ll forward it on to him.
