Three Perry senior baseball players played their final game at Progressive Field in style Tuesday night as the Bluejays picked up a much needed win over Carroll 5-1. Senior left hander Will Whiton was sharp all night long allowing only 1 earned run on 2 hits while striking out 11. Perry never trailed scoring a pair of runs in the second inning.
Perry didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring two runs in the second inning when it scored on a two-run error.
The Bluejays added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Janier Puente started the inning with a solo blast. That was followed up by Kyle Nevitt‘s single, scoring Brandon Kenyon.
The lone run of the game for Carroll crossed the plate in the seventh inning on a walk by Tanner White.
Perry recognized Whiton, Zach Roberts and Nic Wilhelmi prior to the game. The three seniors have played every single inning this year for Perry.
The Bluejays travel to Carroll Thursday night for a non conference game with Kuemper.
