Having just three wins next to sixteen losses heading into the final week of the regular season, one might assume that the Panorama baseball team is toast in the playoffs. But, the numbers show that Panorama could pull out a probable win against Clarke of Osceola, who have a 5-17 record, in the opening round playoff game Saturday. They have an especially good chance if their ace is on the mound. Junior Aaron Klinge has been lights out lately. He has a sub 2.0 earned run average in his past two starts. That’s dominance that hasn’t been found on the mound this year for Clarke. Their best pitcher, Junior Zack Harmsen, has a 6.09 earned run average on the season and has given up 12 runs in his last 10 innings pitched.

The teams’ offenses are almost identical. Panorama, as a team, has an on base plus slugging percentage of .570. Clarkes’ is .574. Neither team has any home runs on the season. Panorama also is the de facto home team for the game. Panther fans have to drive just 15 minutes to the game in Stuart, meanwhile Osceola is over an hour away from the game. First pitch in the opening round playoff game between Panorama and Clarke of Osceola is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday night at West Central Valley High School.
