A recently graduated Panorama High School football player is getting ready to play in this month’s Iowa Shrine Bowl. The annual north vs south all star game is a last high school football hurrah for selected football players who, just a few weeks later, will join a college football team. Gavin Richey, a star quarterback and linebacker from Panorama, will be playing in the game and later joining the football team at Morningside College in Sioux City. In his senior season, the 6’4″, 190 pound Richey led the Panthers to a state tournament birth, throwing 15 touchdowns next to 10 interceptions at quarterback, and on the other side of the ball, leading his team with 90 tackles and 5 sacks. The Shrine Bowl takes place Saturday, July 25 at 4 p.m. at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls.
