Around 30 future Perry football players attended the Future Perry Bluejay Football Camp Thursday night and Friday morning at the Perry Practice Facility. The camp was organized by High School Head Coach Jason Olejniczak. Kids, ranging in age from 3rd grade up to 6th grade, learned some of the fundamentals of football and had the opportunity to listen to and practice with some current college players. Iowa State starting middle linebacker Kane Seeley, and Luther starting defensive players Gabe Saemisch and Jackson Van Kirk returned to the very same practice field that made them the successful players they are today.
“When coach asked if I could come back, I was like absolutely. It was a lot of fun working with the kids and their energy and enthusiasm was refreshing,” smiled Van Kirk. “I remember the excitement I had for the sport of football at that age and brought back some real neat memories. Hopefully they learned a few things and realized how fun and beneficial the sport can be!”
The camp was divided into 5 stations where kids learned the basics and safe fundamentals of football. They ended the session with an Ultimate Style of non-contact football and frozen treats. The camp continues today from 10:30 to noon today.
