According to the state’s data center, the population of Greenfield is less than two thousand people. According to the Iowa Association of Fairs, approximately 18,000 people attend the Adair County Fair in Greenfield each year. Greenfield Main Street and Chamber Director Stacie Hull says the surge of people brings impressive amounts of economic development each year. “We have people filling up with gas, stopping by our restaurants, stopping to buy sunscreen or anything else they might need. A lot of people stay at the campground, so while they’re here, they might be buying groceries. We definitely see those dollars multiply. People that come into our town and see our facilities and fairground are hopefully impressed and they may become a repeat visitor.”
Hull will tell us more about the economic development projects and events happening in the Greenfield area today on Let’s Talk Guthrie County. It airs during the 9 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
