The Iowa Girls Coaches Association has released its 2015 All-District softball selections and Greene County is well represented on the Class 3A Central All-District Team. Tom Kennedy was named the district coach of the year while Marissa Promes, Emily Christensen, and Sydney Koch were named to the 16-person team.

Kennedy has the Rams playing in the State Tournament for the second year in a row. Greene County enters the week with a 30-6 record and number four ranking. The Rams won the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference title by four games, and they’ve rolled to 10-2, 11-3, and 16-2 victories in the postseason.

Promes is 29-3 this season as the main pitcher for the Rams. In 211 innings pitched, the senior has a 1.96 Earned Run Average and opponents are batting just .184 against her. Promes has walked 40 batters and struck out 228. She’s also batting .268 with two home runs, five doubles, and 23 runs batted in.

Christensen is the Rams’ shortstop. Also a senior, she enters the week with a .394 batting average, plus 17 doubles, four triples, three home runs, and 40 runs driven in.

Koch, a junior, missed half the season due to a broken finger, but still managed to bat .441 in 59 official at-bats. The right fielder has six doubles, a triple, and 15 RBI.
