Corn crop pic 7_16It’s the time of year when corn stalks are high and motorists’ vision can be impaired when approaching intersections.

Greene County Sheriff Steve Haupert says drivers should reduce their speed and slowly approach an intersection, due to tall corn stalks blocking your vision. He points out that motorists could sometimes see dust trails on gravel roads as an indicator that a vehicle was approaching an intersection.

“We used to look for the dust trail but here with the wet roadways and everything, we just need to be very cautious about entering those intersections.  The corn, at the height that it is right now, until it’s harvested, it’s going to be one of those road hazards that we just need to be aware of.”

Haupert reminds everyone to exercise patience and reduce your speed this summer and fall when corn stalks are high at the intersections.
