The Perry Hy-Vee has a new leader and and he’s excited to move to town and get involved in the community.

Matt May began his job as Store Director of the Perry Hy-Vee earlier this month and so far he says things are going really well and he already feels welcome.

“(Everyone is) very friendly and clean and inviting.  I haven’t met a person yet who hasn’t had a smile on their face really, so it has been a very inviting community.  A lot of people are telling me different things I should get involved in.  So it’s definitely a community with a lot of action, a lot of people that care about it and want to keep it going and want to make it better.”

The Ankeny native, who returns to Iowa after most recently working in the Owatonna, Minnesota Hy-Vee, says he’s proud to be part of a company that understands each community is different.

“Hy-Vee is a big corporate name, especially in Iowa, but they allow us to really be a part of the community and do what’s best for communities like Perry.  So I can make decisions based off of what’s going to help Perry out as far as customers and the community as general.  They allow you to be very adaptive and very involved in things in the community.”

May says he and his family recently purchased a house and will be moving to Perry next month.
