Former Arkansas Governor, turned talk show host, turned presidential candidate, Mike Huckabee was campaigning in Guthrie and Greene counties Thursday afternoon. While covering issues such as taxes, healthcare and the military, Huckabee also stressed the importance of the Iowa Caucus to a packed house of about 50 people at Guthrie Center’s Prime Time restaurant. He says while the winter weather may be nasty on the night of February, 1st 2016, it’s crucial that Iowans get out and vote in the Caucus, but only if they support a certain candidate. “I know it is going to be easy to look out the window and see how bad the weather is and say, ‘maybe we just shouldn’t go.’ But I don’t care what happens that night. If you are going to be committed to caucusing for me next February, I need you to go through sleet, snow, ice or whatever it takes to be there and caucus. Now, if you for some reason decided one of those other 342 Republicans running for President is your choice, and I can’t imagine how you would reach that conclusion, then I want you to look out your window and say ‘It’s just too bad, we should just stay home and watch this on TV.’”

Later in the day, Huckabee visited a packed house of about 90 people at the Jefferson Pizza Ranch. While in Greene County, Huckabee spoke about the fair tax act and abolishing the Internal Revenue Service, improving the economy by bringing back manufacturing jobs from overseas and stressing the importance of leaving alone Medicare and Social Security benefits. He says if elected President he will decrease the national debt and improve foreign policy.
