Last week Greene County High School baseball players Riah Nelsen and Daric Whipple were named to the Iowa Baseball Coaches Association Class 3A West District first team. Nelsen is a senior pitcher and Whipple is a junior outfielder.

Ram head coach Mark Sawhill told Raccoon Valley Radio the district covers a lot of miles. “We’re talking all the way up north including Le Mars and Spencer down to Glenwood near the southwest corner. It covers the whole western side of the state, and we hardly see anyone in the district.” The Rams played Carroll High and Atlantic and those were the only two opponents from the district. Jefferson is on the eastern edge of the West District.
