High school football season in Iowa is near and as we wait for this season, the Iowa Scores Project allows us to take a look at the best teams from the past four seasons. Part of the BCMoore rankings, the Iowa Scores Project uses complex analytics to rank the best teams in the state since 2011 and Guthrie County area teams definitely vary in ranking. According to the data, West Central Valley is the 51st best out of 56 Class 2A football teams spanning from the 2011 to 2014 season. Out of 56 teams in Class 1A, Panorama is the 13th best since 2011. Moving down to Class A football, where 62 teams compete, and Nodaway Valley is ranked as the 34th best over the past four seasons. Guthrie County is a good one for 8 man football, a class of 62 teams, and we have three ranked in the top 22. Adair-Casey is ranked 15th, Coon Rapids-Bayard 16th and Guthrie Center 22nd in 8 man football, since 2011.
