August is off to a dry start here in the Raccoon River Valley, but that could change this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, Perry has received 0.12 inch of rain so far this month.  Guthrie Center has received 0.2 inch and 0.08 of an inch has fallen in Jefferson

Normal monthly rainfall totals are 4 inches of Perry, 4.3 inches in Guthrie Center and 3.9 inches in Jefferson during the month of August.

There is a chance of rain and thunderstorms Saturday and into Sunday.
