The sixth annual teen summer reading program at the Jefferson Public Library was another success.
Library Director Jane Millard says 14, 6th through 12th graders completed the program. Teens met eight times throughout the summer and did games, crafts, movies and other activities with their superhero theme of “Unmask.”
Like the youth summer reading program, the teens also enjoyed special guest speakers and it ended with a evening party at the library. Millard talks about the final party.
“We had lots of games for them to play. And then we served supper which we had hero sandwiches and kryptonite, which is really green jello, and superhero cupcakes and then we gave out our prizes.”
The grand prize winner was Claire Teusch who received a tablet, Hannah Acton was the top reader with 57 books read and received Greene County Chamber bucks and Hunter Davis won the best decorated superhero folder and an Avengers graphic novel.
Millard was pleased with the number of teens that were part of the summer reading program. It was sponsored by the Friends of the Jefferson Library and the Greene County Board of Supervisors.
