Several fatalities have occurred at rural, uncontrolled intersections around Iowa this month. Guthrie County Sheriff Marty Arganbright says it’s a good idea to be cautious when approaching any intersection. “When you come into an intersection, whether it’s controlled or uncontrolled, slow down. Some people say they look for dust, sometimes there isn’t dust. In the morning, when it’s wet with dew, dust doesn’t show up. Some people look for lights. The corn is particularly high this year, because of all the rain. Even with a stop sign at the intersections, be prepared to stop when you proceed into the intersection, slowly, to make sure no one is coming.”
Arganbright says never assume that somebody at a crossing intersection is going to stop at a stop sign.
