School starts on Monday and all three varsity sports at West Central Valley High School are involved in their first competitions this upcoming week. Cross Country runs at Southeast Valley of Gowrie at 5 p.m., meanwhile at the same time, volleyball begins their season at home against Van Meter. On Friday, the lights will be bright at the Johnston High School football field as West Central Valley takes on Des Moines Christian at 7 p.m.
