Students in the Greene County Community School District start back today. However, today through Thursday, students will get to dismiss early for mini-parent/teacher conferences.
Superintendent Tim Christensen says they are modeling the conferences from a concept used at the kindergarten level. He explains the benefits that parents and teachers received from having conferences that early in the school year.
“(For the parents) To get to know them (the teachers), best way to communicate with them (and for the teacher to) find out about their kindergarten student. (It’s a) Great way to start the school year and the school career for that child. If it’s a great thing at the kindergarten level, why isn’t good for first grade, second grade, third grade (or) all across the board.”
He adds that the conferences are intended to establish and build communication between parents and teachers.
