The Perry coaching staff treated Friday night’s scrimmage against Collins Maxwell Baxter like it was a regular Friday night game.  They took what the Raiders gave them.  Perry’s first team offense and defense looked solid in the first preseason test of the year as the offense moved the ball and the defense made the necessary stops.

“On the sidelines, the coaches treated it like it was a real game.  Whether that was right or wrong, I guess we’ll find out but we saw what we could do and we kind of went off that.  They were leaving the middle open and coming downhill hard so we had quite a bit of success passing the ball,” stated Head Coach Jason Olejniczak.

Perry had a tough time running the ball largely in part to the defensive alignment the Raiders played.

“They went with a 3 man front which he had not seen in practices.  We really struggled to block the front so our running game wasn’t as good as I hoped.  That is why you play in these types of situations so we can have some specifics to work on and you can bet 3 man fronts will be in the coaching this week.”

Perry will look to build off the strong scrimmage this Friday night with the regular season opener against ADM.
