The Culpepper and Merriweather Circus will be performing two shows in Stuart tonight. The circus is sponsored by the Stuart Lions Club, who last hosted it in 2008. Lions Club member Pat Sargent says if history is any indication, then tonight’s shows should be packed. “When we had it in 2008, we had between 300-500 show up, so it was a very good turnout for us.”
Skeeter the Clown is one of the performers and says one unique aspect, is that it’s a family operation. “We are families performing for families. We’ve got moms and dads, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, aunts and uncles and even a great grandma on the show this year. When our boys and girls are about three or four years old, we teach them their first circus skills. It’s truly educational fun and living history coming into your own backyard.”
Showtimes are scheduled for 5 and 7:30 p.m. at Stuart’s helicopter landing pad. Tickets are available at the door for $13 for adults and $7 for children age 12 and under.
