ADM football opens the season Friday with a road non-district contest at Perry, and a more extensive look at the schedule shows some tough games looming.
The Tigers will face three teams ranked in the Des Moines Register’s preseason Top 10 for Class 3A, beginning with a road game week three against defending district champion and fourth-ranked Dallas-Center Grimes, whom the Tigers lost to by just a point, 7-6, despite turning the ball over five times in last season’s matchup. The Mustangs 2014 season ended with a loss to fellow District 8 team Creston, 50-49, in a state semifinal thriller at the UNI Dome.
ADM’s next top-10 test won’t come for another five weeks on October 16 at No. 3 Norwalk, whom the Tigers beat 28-24 last season. Then comes the regular season finale the following week at No. 6 Harlan, whom the Tigers held off, 35-30, in last season’s regular season finale, which cemented ADM’s seventh straight playoff berth and keeping an injury-ridden Cyclones team out of the playoffs for the first time in several decades.
