A year ago, in their first season as an 8 player football team, the Guthrie Center Tigers made it to the playoffs with a regular season record of 7-2. Heading into year 2 as a 8 man squad and head coach Mark McDermott says he’s still learning the intricacies of the downsized game. “There’s some definite difference. Obviously, you’ve got three less people, so blocking is a little bit different than you would have in 11 man. And on defense, the players really have got to be good players in open space.”

The Tigers open their season on Friday with a trip to Stanton.
