IMG_3815The Dallas County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.

During open forum, De Soto Mayor Nick Hasty told the Board about their efforts to update their waste waster treatment plan and presented them with information on the project.

The Board then reviewed the commission policy and guidelines for the Veterans Affairs department.  Director Nick Praska says there is now a vacancy on the commission as Susan Piel has announced her resignation due to personal reasons.  He says they will look to find another female to fill the spot and make a recommendation to the Board at a future meeting.  The Board also approved an out of state travel request for Praska to attend an event in Columbus, Ohio September 21st through 25th.

A gravel pit lease renewal was then approved with John Ross.  The renewed agreement is valid for 10 years.  Next the Supervisors approved a temporary road closure for the F31 curves project as presented, along with the purchase of two motor graders in the amount of $541,798 to Murphy Tractor and Equipment out of Ankeny.

The Board then agreed to sign a letter of support for the Historic Preservation Commission as they look for grant money to get the Seth Dayton House on the National Registry of Historic Places.

A 28E agreement with the Central Iowa Regional Transportation Planning Alliance was also approved as presented.

Facilities Director Eric Rose then reported they plan to present a request for proposals at next week’s meeting for moving and cleaning at the human services campus. The construction portion of the project remains on schedule for completion in October.

Finally, a public hearing in regards to a resolution for the final replat of two lots in the Napa Valley Estates in Boone township was held.  This reconfigures two lots, 17 and 18, which are zoned as residential two.  Planning and Zoning Director Murray McConnell says subdividing these lots he feels will make them more marketable and appealing to potential builders.  McConnell says this is something that has happened several times before in this development. The resolution was approved as presented.
