The Greene County Medical Center’s financial report was recently presented to the Board of Trustees during their monthly meeting last week.
July’s report shows that the hospital is operating at a loss of $347,175, which is better than how it ended the 2015 fiscal year in June with a loss of $444,259. July’s revenue was $1,570,727, which is lower than the budgeted figure of $1,916,178. Expenses were also under budget at $1,917,902 from $2,192,436.
Chief Financial Officer Mark VanderLinden said the main reason for the low numbers is due to low patient volumes. Outpatient visits totaled 1,696 people in July, which VanderLinden pointed out was the lowest month since 2012. Other departments that saw their lowest patient volumes for the calendar year were respiratory, cardiac and pharmacy.
The medical center had $193,018 in adjustments from when they ended the 2015 fiscal year in June and before their audit. The original June report showed the hospital’s revenues at $20,118,538 and after the adjustments were made, the pre-audit figure increased to $20,209,796. The expenses saw an overall decrease following adjustments to the June report. The original figure was $23,683,600 and the final figure was $23,563,870.
