The Panorama cross country team begins their competitive season this evening with a trip to Guthrie Center. Head Coach Greg Thompson says the boys squad is led by a competitive group of athletes who he sees improving as the season advances. “After time time trial we had last Thursday, that we treat as a race. Our top five boys pretty much ran as a pack. They were 1:14 apart, with a scoring average of 20:56. For a standard 5 kilometer race, that’s not that great, but for the first one of the season, with only a week and a half of practice on a hilly course, that was pretty impressive. We figure they’ll drop 2 to 3 minutes during the season, so that puts them into the 18 and 17 minute range, which is pretty good.”

Tonight’s race at Guthrie Center begins at 5 p.m.
