It’s a busy pre-Labor day week for ADM athletics, with several teams in action.

First, the junior varsity and freshman football teams will play their first games of the season against Perry on Monday in Adel. The freshman game was moved to 4:45 p.m. Monday in order to protect Perry’s Dewey Field for the varsity game because the field was ravaged by rain all day on Friday. To accommodate the rescheduled freshman game, the junior varsity game has been moved back to a 6:30 p.m. kickoff.

Head coach Mary Beth Scott’s varsity volleyball Tigers start to ramp up the competitive schedule with three different events this week. No. 12 ADM (4-1) has its first conference match Tuesday night at Boone, the annual, six-team Tiger invitational on Thursday and a six-team invitational against tough competition Saturday at Valley High School in West Des Moines.

On Friday, the ADM varsity football Tigers will look to avenge last season’s blowout loss to Ballard and improve to 2-0 when they welcome the Bombers to Adel for the 2015 home opener.

Lastly, the ADM varsity cross country teams finally get to race against someone other than each other in their first invite on Saturday, a nine-team event at Urbandale Middle School.
