Greene County junior Nadia Fisher is the only player returning from the 2014 varsity volleyball team. A hitter, Fisher is surrounded by players who have never been in a varsity match. She talks about how she feels with all new teammates. “It’s kind of weird because you have the older girls and you want them to take the lead, but I kind of want to lead and tell them how it’s different. It’s just a weird feeling. Does she speak to her more inexperienced players when she sees things that are quite right? “I mainly just let the coaches handle that because they do a pretty good job. Sometimes I’ll say something like ‘Well, this hitter from this team likes to do that a lot, so we need to watch that.'”
She added she thinks the team is getting more comfortable with each other as practices have gone on, and she noted that everyone gets along well and is a good teammate.
Coach Donna Carhill’s Rams open the 2015 season in Lake City on Saturday, Sept. 5 at the South Central Calhoun tournament.
