Greene County SheriffA two vehicle accident on Highway 30 in Greene County results in severe vehicle damage and no injuries.

Greene County Sheriff Steve Haupert says at 9:34pm Tuesday, a deputy, Scranton Fire Department and Greene County Emergency Medical Services responded to the crash at the intersection of Highway 25 and 30, north of Scranton.

73 year-old Louis Hastings Walsh of Carroll was traveling north on Highway 25, when he tried to turn left onto Highway 30 and his 2015 Cadillac was hit by an eastbound 2012 Chevrolet Explorer that was driven by 70 year-old Robert Lavern Twit of Ames.  Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident and both refused medical treatment.

The Cadillac sustained $10,000 in damages to the back end of the vehicle and there was $5,000 in damages to the Explorer.  Walsh was cited for Unsafe Stopping.

Haupert reminds everyone to recognize where the stop signs are located, especially on the highways, make sure you come to a complete stop and check for any oncoming traffic.
