Governor Terry Branstad has issued a disaster proclamation for Guthrie County. It stems from a series of violent storms and subsequent flooding that began over Labor Day weekend. The proclamation also means residents are eligible for the Individual Assistance Program (IAP). It provides grants of up to $5,000 for households with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level, or a maximum annual income of $40,180, for a family of three. Grants are available for home or car repairs, replacement of clothing or food, and for the expense of temporary housing. Original receipts are required for those seeking reimbursement for actual expenses related to storm recovery. Applications can be made by calling Tiffany Steensen at the Guthrie County Family Development Center at 641-747-3845. There is a 45 day deadline to submit an application.
