IMG_4235The new Perry School Board all sat together at the table for the first time Monday evening.  Though three of the five members are just starting their term, there’s a lot of experience in the group.

Superintendent Lynn Ubben says it’s nice to welcome back incumbents who have been on the Board before.

“When you said on the outside you don’t realize everything that goes into being a school board member.  Schools operate in their own little cloistered environment, they have certain rules and (regulations) they have to follow that aren’t necessarily the rules and (regulations) of other organizations so it does take some time to learn.”

Ubben says there are new board member workshops and ways for those without experience to learn the ropes.

Overall she says the district is in good hands.

“I think we have a bunch of learners.  You know, we have four who have been on the Board so I know that they’ll support Linda (Andorf) and help her.  Linda is a learner too, and she’s a go getter, and she wants to know more, so I’m sure she’ll do well.”

We’ll wrap up our conversation with Ubben on today’s Let’s Talk Dallas County during the 9am, noon and 5pm hours on AM 1310 KDLS and 99.7 FM.
