Those who are approaching retirement and want to learn more about possible financial options are invited to a program next week in Jefferson.

Greene County Iowa State University Extension Director Lori Mannel says the “Writing Your Retirement Paycheck” class will cover such topics as when to start claiming Social Security, keeping up with inflation when you are retired and making sure your money will last the rest of your life.  She believes this class will be helpful for those looking for more information about retirement planning.

“It’s just another source of information.  Many people do go to their financial planner and that’s great.  But this is maybe another way of looking at the information.  So I don’t think you can over prepare for retirement.”

The workshop will be at the Extension office from 6:30 to 8:30pm on Tuesday, September 22nd.  The cost $15 per participant to cover the cost of take-home materials.  Pre-registrations are encouraged by September 18th.  Call 386-2138 for more information or to sign up.
