The Perry football team dropped their district 2 opener to the Boone Toreadors by the score of 27-10. Donald Chavez intercepted Tanner Schminke on the opening series, which led to a 36 yard field by Ivan Garcia. The Bluejay offense started to find their groove in the first quarter, but a turnover would result in a Boone touchdown pass from quarterback Tanner Schminke to Raithe Clemons. Schminke finished with three touchdown passes on the evening, and also scored on a quarterback sneak. Danny Anderson and Jon Herrick also hauled in touchdown catches in the 2nd half for the Toreadors. Perry’s lone touchdown came on a 50 yard pass from Wyatt Halling to Tay Lucas with nine seconds left in the game.
Perry drops to 0-4 overall, and 0-1 in district play. They’ll travel to Carroll next week to face the Tigers in another district 2 match-up. Boone improves to 1-3 on the season, and will travel to Dallas Center-Grimes next Friday.
