The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met Thursday. Conservation Director Joe Hanner suggested to the Supervisors putting yield signs at farmland field crossings on the Raccoon River Valley Trail. These crossings are not at road intersections, but exist where the trail runs through a farmer’s acreage and allows machinery to get from one side of the property to the other. The yield signs are placed in other counties to protect both farmers and cyclists. They already exist in Dallas County and Hanner says he will call their conservation board to get more information.
Public Health Administrator Jotham Arber reported to the Supervisors that his budget is working out well this fiscal year. Arber also let the Supervisors know about a recent employee in his office who resigned this week and may try to collect unemployment. He plans to hire either two part-time employees or another full-time employee to fill the job opening.
