The odds of hitting a deer with your vehicle have increased in Iowa. According to State Farm Insurance, Iowa has the third highest amount of car vs deer collisions in the country. They say Iowans have a one in 68 chance of hitting a deer on the road this year. Guthrie County Sheriff Marty Arganbright says sometimes the collision is inevitable and you just have to brace yourself. “Sometimes you can’t even help to avoid hitting a deer. The rule always is don’t veer for a deer and that means don’t try to go around it.”
State Farm Insurance says the average cost of damage to a vehicle during a collision with a deer is about $4,000.
