More details have been released about the distribution channels for gaming proceeds for Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation (GGCGC).
An estimated $1.5 million in adjusted gross revenue from Wild Rose Jefferson will be given to GGCGC on an annual basis. Up to $270,000 will be given to the six contiguous counties’ community foundations. An estimated $1,230,000 is left for Greene County projects. A lump sum will be given to the seven communities in the county, on a per capita basis, as well as the two school districts. President Norm Fandel says their eight-person board will work with the Greene County Community Foundation to provide as much money as they were getting before Wild Rose was built.
“Certainly it’s been an impact and a resource for a lot of small projects. We feel like it’s very important to keep that process intact. We’re grateful that the Community Foundation wants to keep that relationship moving forward.”
On average, the Community Foundation was receiving $130,000 in funding.
Another system that GGCGC has set up is any project requests that are below $35,000 will go to the Community Foundation and anything above that level can be requested directly to GGCGC. Applications for those requests will be available by October 1st and the deadline will be February 11, 2016, with the awards to be handed out in early April. About $400,000 will be left for major “impact” grants. As we’ve previously reported, the full $1.5 million will not be available this first granting cycle, due to the system not being in place for a full year.
A GGCGC website is currently under construction, but will include information about their operation and a frequently asked questions section.
The eight-member board represents every portion of Greene County including Bob Allen from rural Churdan, Norm Fandel from rural Jefferson, Lori Mannel from rural Scranton, Craig Marquardt from Paton, Rick Morain from Jefferson, Brenda Muir from rural Rippey, Kate Neese from Grand Junction, Peg Raney from rural Jefferson and Mike Mumma of Jefferson serves as legal counsel.
