After a stranger was reported inside the Perry High School and Middle School building early last week, the district is working with staff and law enforcement to make sure everyone is kept safe.

A press release issued by Superintendent Lynn Ubben, Perry Schools staff, School Resource Officer Pat Jans and Police Chief Eric Vaughn says staff and students reported the individual to administrators, who then notified the school resource officer and the Perry Police Department.

The subject was located, identified and questioned by officers.

Officials state “In an effort to ensure a safe school environment, staff and students have been and will continue to review building safety plans and procedures.”

Because this type of incident could occur at other public venues as well, parents are encouraged to discuss safety issues with their children.
