Dallas County Supervisors Meeting Preview
The Dallas County Board of Supervisors will meet in regular session Tuesday.
Items on the agenda include consideration of the fifth amendment to the DeSoto urban renewal plan, filing of the E911 commission’s written request and consideration of a vending machine placement request for the Sheriff’s Benevolent Association.
The Board will then consider an amendment to the DECAT restorative justice contract, approve a road maintenance agreement with Marshall Wind LLC and discuss the human services campus renovation project.
The Board will then discuss assigned and unassigned department space needs and hold a budget workshop.
The meeting takes place at 9am in the Board of Supervisors meeting room in Adel.
Sewer Line Smoke Testing Begins Tuesday in Perry
The City of Perry will begin a smoke test of the sanitary sewer system Tuesday.
Crews will be working on the area of Willis Avenue to Pattee Street, between 7th and 11th Streets. The goal is to locate breaks and defects in the sewer system. The smoke they use is non-toxic, non-staining, odorless and not a fire hazard. Residents may notice the gray smoke coming from vent stacks on houses or holes in the ground but should not be alarmed.
The smoke should not enter into homes or businesses. If it does, this means there is defective plumbing or dried up drain traps and it’s possible that dangerous sewer gases are also entering the building. If you notice smoke inside, evacuate immediately and notify work crews or call City Hall at 465-2481.
Before testing, residents are encouraged to pour a gallon of water into each floor drain and if anyone in the home or business has respiratory problems and is immobile, contact the City before testing begins.
