Recently released data shows Guthrie Center students scored better than the state and national average on the ACT exam in 2015.
Curriculum Director Judy Bauler says the average composite score of a Guthrie Center student is 22.2. The state average is 22 and the national average is 21.
Additionally, female students in Guthrie Center scored over a point higher on the exam than their male counterparts. Males fared better on the math portion of the exam, whereas females did better in English, reading and science.
Bauler says there’s a correlation between the amount of core classes students take, which prepare them for the future, and how well they do on the ACT exam.
