The Jefferson Fire Department encourages everyone to help them “Fill the Boot” tomorrow.

Fire Chief Randy Love says fire personnel will be at the intersection of US Highway 30 and Iowa Highway 4 tomorrow starting at 8am.  He hopes to catch some of the Iowa State University fans making their trip to Ames for a home football game that day.

Funds from the “Fill the Boot” campaign will go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), which Love points out they have a local connection.

“We actually have a special purpose for doing it because we do have a local boy here that does have muscular dystrophy and we’ve supported him 100 percent.  And that’s just another way that we can do it is go out and raise money to help send him to camp and get him different things that he may not be able to get.”

Love adds that they usually raise about $5,000 each year for MDA.
