Guthrie County residents have three opportunities to participate in a 1 kilometer walk today to help make Iowa the healthiest state in the nation.

The Healthiest State Walk is part of the Healthiest State Initiative, started by Governor Branstad in 2011 with the goal of making Iowa the healthiest state by 2016.

Walks will take place at noon at the Guthrie County Hospital Fitness Center in Guthrie Center and the Fay Pharmacy in Adair. Another walk will begin at 12:15 p.m. at the Stuart Fremont Theatre.

The walks are free and open to the public.
