The Dallas County Conservation Board invites everyone to come learn more about tipis this weekend.
Museum Curator Pete Malmberg says the fun and interactive event will also be educational.
“We’re going to present the math, science and history of the native american tipi, so it’s multidisciplinary. Participants will set up a 12 foot, plains style tipi from start to finish. This includes lifting poles, walking rope and helping with the cover. We will discuss materials used in tipi construction, physics behind its structure and history of the people who used this dwelling.”
The program takes place Sunday from 1-3pm at the Kuehn Conservation Area.
