The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met Thursday.
County Sanitarian Stephen Patterson told the Supervisors that after this summer’s violent flooding, the City of Bayard decided to help with the clean up effort by renting two roll away dumpsters from the County for residents to use. Eight tons of trash and debris was collected and hauled away at a cost of $448 to the City.
Patterson says city leaders came to him wondering if they could get a discount, because they were renting the dumpsters for a good cause.
Chairman Tom Rutledge says he’s uncomfortable giving any discount, because it sets a precedent for it to happen recurrently in the future. Supervisor Jerry Caraher, who noted that Bayard is in his district, suggested giving up to a $100 discount.
After a lengthy discussion, the Supervisors voted 3-2 to give the City a $50 discount on the dumpster fee.
