Most of what wrestling legend Dan Gable talked about in his Tuesday visit to The Jefferson Fieldhouse for a book signing and facility grand opening, had to do with being successful, his unmatched career in the sport, and some of the personal stories that helped shape him. There was a bit of a lighthearted moment following his speech, when Raccoon Valley Radio asked him if he was aware that in the late 1960’s and early ’70’s, he was so popular people named their pets after him. “Well, you know what? At the beginning, back in those years, cats, dogs, almost all the animals were Gables. So, I had my named there. Then, all of a sudden when I kept being successful, whether as an an athlete or a coach, now they were naming their kids after me, and that’s great. My first grandson is Gable, so I’ve made some progress. I went from dogs, and I love dogs, but I really like kids.”
