The Greene County high sports teams are nearing the end of their respective regular seasons. Coach Kelly Simpson’s cross-country teams go to Des Moines today for the Saydel Invitational to wrap up the regular season. The Greene County girls were seventh and the boys ninth on Monday of this week at the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference meet in Ames. After today’s meet in Des Moines, all that’s left on the schedule is a Class 3A State Qualifying meet in Glenwood on Thursday, Oct. 22.
Greene County’s football team has just two games left on its schedule, including the home finale tomorrow night in Jefferson at Linduska Field vs. the Boone Toreadors (2-5, 2-2). Coach Dean Lansman’s Rams are 3-4 overall and 1-3 in Class 3A District 2. Kickoff on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com is Friday night at 7:30 p.m. with coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Coach Donna Carhill’s volleyball Rams go to the Johnston tournament this Saturday and finish the regular season on Monday, Oct. 19 in Perry.
